What is First Step Grants?
First Step Grants is a partnership with the Rotary Club of Canby and The First Step Grant Foundation. The program offers vocational grants of up to $3,000 to qualified applicants to be used for tuition payments or direct expenses relating from a short-term course of study, in some cases, payment for learning materials such as books and supplies may be considered. Grant funds are paid directly to the qualifying institution providing the education and cannot be used for living expenses, housing etc.
How can this program can help you?
The goal of the First Step Grant program is to allow recipients to receive training and education that will result in a direct increase in their hourly pay after completing the vocational training or education. Recipients of the First Step Grant should expect to see a 50% increase in their hourly rate upon completion of vocational program or training, for example if the recipient’s current rate of pay is $10 an hour, after  training it would be our desire to have them make $15 hourly. Income results will vary depending on career field and training but it is a goal of the program to see a result of 50% increase.
